Process Manager for Windows (Launched on eve of Diwali 2008)

It has always been a pain to use applications like MS Word, MS Outlook, MS Excel, Matlab, Delphi, Mozilla, Image editing s/w and video editing s/w. They take huge memory... they eat up half of your CPU ... and when you wanna close them, then also they take huge time ... to get rid off all these...
I have developed this small utility.... so now ... you can just right click on any application in taskbar and say "Kill"...
Also if you wanna increase/decrease the priority of any application, then all you have to do is just one click on the application in the taskbar and say increase/decrease priority...
I hope public will like it and encourage me to add more features...
You may check out the list of upcoming features click here

Thanks for the app. It's very handy when you need it - which is hopefully not very often. I've noticed, as I'm sure you have to, that the task manager sometimes won't shut down an application but it always kills processes when you tell it to. Problem is, it's hard to tell which process goes to which app. With your app I'll know that now. Thanks.

Hey Arif - The efforts put by you are really amazing/superb/awesome/awful/outstanding/awing and just excellent. To be candid, I have not get a chance to really use the tool - But I am sure, whoever uses it must feel lucky. I went through the description and presentation, by which its crystal clear that the tool is proficient and adept in its subject.

Proposed changes-
1) Installation Wizard - WARNING: THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED... Sentence is incomplete
2) After finishing the installation, a check box is expected saying 'Run it now' instead of just exit
3) After installation - I received an error If I double click the icon automatically came on desktop:
'This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.
4) After installion - I could see three items appearing in Start Programs -> 'Process Manager for Windows', 'To get latest version', 'To test Process Manager'. Result of clicking last two options are identical. Thats not expected. On click of option 1 - Error remain same as of point (3) above.
5) One more item is expected in Start -> Progress for 'Uninstallation of Process Manager' , I mean just to follow the standards of Products.
6) The uninstallation option is available if we re-install, thats not mentioned in the release notes and how will one know without advance notification.
7) Repair option during reinstallaion does not really repair the error occurred in point (3)
8) Try to avoid or modify the message 'Hey Process Manager is successfully installed, thanks for giving a try... It could be 'Thank you for installing Process Manager of Windows'

Have a good day!

Good Job Arif -- I have always known you as a C/C++ Expert, and coming up with this one is really Awesome.
Keep it up and I suggest you to patent such ideas and start selling such utilities directly approaching Microsoft :)

the utility is good
as for me if u r playing a game like couter strike or NFS carbon which eats almost all of the RAM
the utility is of great help as it just takes few seconds to kill the application

Hi, great utility, really.
Anyway, I noticed this: when a window (i.e. firefox) is stuck/frozen and you right-click on it, you don't get the pm options (kill, priority). you just get the usual menu with "close" as last option. Maybe you can do something for pm options to be shown always?

thanks and keep up the great job!

very useful addon!!!!

Plz I have a request:

two install options:
1.- current one with tray icon
2.- other without tray icon and program is running at window startup by default.

I have tons of tray icons in the right corner. Process manager is a must have tool but is not necessary waste space with an icon for it

regards

Unknown said...

nice job pal.. but add an option to close the tray icon and the program continue wonking

cool app. all result of your hardwork and passion for programming. keep it up.

Feature Suggestion:
Ability to configure Process Manager so that it can kill a specific process. For example ntvdm.exe.

@Panchpan

Reason for your error 3 was you perhaps did not have

VC++ run time installed for VS2005 SP1. When application built in VC++ , we are also suppose to distribute the run time.

I have made it clear in prerequisites in the new release 1.6

If any one has latest version of Internet Explorer installed, they do not need to install the runtime
as it gets installed with IE

3) After installation - I received an error If I double click the icon automatically came on desktop:
'This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.
